Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Douglas Gerrard both directs and stars in this simple little feature, written by E. Magnus Ingleton. Fra Bennoni is the gatekeeper for the monastery where he lives. The fathers give food to the poor daily, and one morning, Fra Bennoni finds a rose on the gate. He places it on the Virgin's shrine. That night he hears the inviting music of a street carnival. When he can no longer resist the temptation that it offers, he hastens out to the village. The revelers believe that Fra Bennoni is one of them, costumed as a monk. He spends the whole night there, watching the dances and enjoying himself in the arms of the fetching Floretta (Ruth Clifford). When dawn breaks, the monk is horrified at his behavior and he dashes back to the monastery. To his surprise there is another monk at the gate. On closer inspection he discovers that it is Christ. Ashamed, Fra Bennoni kneels before the spirit, who vanishes as the monks begin their daily work.
