Ever eager to publicize his chain of dry-cleaning establishments, George Jefferson (Sherman Hemsley) takes advantage of a current series of newspaper articles on successful black businessmen. Wheedling an interview with the reporter handling the series, George invites the journalist to his lavish penthouse apartment. Alas, things don't go quite as planned, which should hardly be surprising to anyone familiar with the redoubtable Mr. Jefferson. "Meet the Press" was first telecast on March 15, 1975.
