Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Ireland's rich heritage isn't something simply to be seen or studied, but heard as well. Marked by idiosyncratic rhythms and verse order and firmly rooted in the Gaelic tradition, the songs and ballads of Ireland are defined by such unmistakable instruments as the fiddle and the harp, and frequently bring to mind images of a far off land in a time long ago. In this release, twelve traditional songs including "Antiphon to Mary", "Prayer of Cemetery", "St. Patrick's Breastplate", and "Sunday Evening" show that even though Ireland's rich tradition of song was once thought lost, it has finally come back more potent and powerful than ever.
