Synopsis by Steve Blackburn
As Chou En Lai said in 1954, "All diplomacy is a continuation of war by other means." In the Cold War, diplomacy's big guns were spying, secrets, and ammunition. This episode in the three-tape documentary illuminates various top-secret military technology advances during the nuclear arms race that was part of a so-called strategy of "MAD" (mutually assured destruction). Highlights include archival footage and commentary by historians.
