Synopsis by Perry Seibert
Spencer McCall's debut documentary The Institute offers a look at a unique art project. In San Francisco, odd signs start popping up encouraging people to visit a local business. It turns out that this was the first step in a free-form, though still organized, real-life role-playing game devised by a man named Jeff Hull. The filmmakers trace how the project developed, and talk with people who were forever changed by their experiences with the immersive project.
