Although they appeared to be outnumbered in chapter eight of The Indians Are Coming, chapter nine reveals that the heroes are perfectly able to defeat Rance Carter (Wilbur McGaugh) and his henchmen, who are forced to flee without the deed to George Woods' (Francis Ford) gold claim. But Carter doesn't give up easily and a portrait of Mary (Allene Ray) is as a bargaining tool with the Indians, who agree to attack Woods' mining operation, where Jack Manning (Tim McCoy) and Bill Williams (Edmund Cobb) are now working. With Bill keeping the attackers at bay, Jack and Mary make their escape through the tunnel. But Bull McGee (Bud Osborne) has booby-trapped the escape route with a stick of dynamite.
