A typical early silent melodrama -- with a typical early silent title -- this Selig Polyscope Company one-reeler featured Harold Lockwood as a young man saving his girlfriend (Amy Trask) and her wealthy father (Henry Otto), a widower, from a fortune-hunting mother (Lillian Hayward) and daughter (Goldie Colwell). Helmed by busy house director Lem Parker, The Hoyden's Awakening also featured William Hutchinson, Robert E. Greene, Wallace Brownlow, Daisy Prideaux, and future director Sidney Franklin. Leading man Harold Lockwood was less than a year away from being picked by Mary Pickford to play her leading man in Tess of the Storm Country (1914).
