Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
The young dressmaker in this movie is a complete innocent. She hasn't a clue about how offensive her outspoken lower-class ways of speech are for the kulturny elitists of 1930s Leningrad -- whose company she seeks. They are friendly with her, but contemptuous. Little do they imagine that by sending a made-up love letter from a man as a practical joke, they are setting up a situation which will destroy her.
