Synopsis by Hal Erickson
One of the CBC's pioneering television series, The Hobby Show aired live from the network's Toronto facilities beginning September 10, 1952. In the absence of existing kinescopes, all that can be determined is that the series offered homemaking tips -- and, presumably, special features on hobbies. The series was shown on Wednesday evenings to fill a schedule gap between 7:45 and 8:00 p.m. during the CBC's first month of TV activity. Evidently, the gap was filled fairly rapidly, inasmuch as The Hobby Show lasted a mere two episodes.
