Synopsis by Sally Barber

The History of Naval Aviation chronicles 50 years of the U.S. Navy's role in aviation development, and the use of aircraft in the military. The high-flying film presents a look at some of aviation's most daring and famous pioneers and includes interviews with pilots. See historic footage of the Wright Brothers' public test flights in 1908 at Fort Meyers, FL. Video highlights also feature rare filmed accounts of World War I and World War II air campaigns fought in the skies over the Atlantic and South Pacific. This documentary presents a compelling look at the evolution of flight through the eyes of those who experienced it and the trial-and-error processes they underwent to succeed in bringing aviation into the modern age.
