Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The title of this Canadian variety series referred to a ten-piece orchestral ensemble, which backed up an equally talented collection of regulars. Karen Marklinger and Reg Gibson were featured vocalists, while special instrumentals were offered by the gloriously yclept the Sassy Brass of Bob McMullen. Produced at the CBC's Winnipeg facilities, The Group debuted as a Sunday-evening series on June 23, 1968, though by the time that autumn had rolled around its time slot was occupied by the Vancouver-based weekly Hits a Poppin'. Thereafter, The Group aired on Sunday afternoons until its final broadcast on September 27, 1970.
