Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Created by Reg Grundy, the daily Australian quiz show The Great Temptation bore some resemblance to Grundy's later (and more famous) project Sale of the Century. On each episode, the contestants answered relatively easy questions in pursuit of big prizes, the "temptation" manifested in the contestants' willingness to risk what they'd already won in order to continue playing the game. Debuting over Australia's 7 Network as a daily half-hour series in 1970, The Great Temptation was quickly followed by a nighttime, hour-long version. Both the daytime and nighttime editions lasted until 1976.
