In this British comedy, set in London during the 1840s, an acting troupe aspires to high-society, but despite their best efforts are consistently rebuffed and consider little more than lowly beggars. As they endeavor to entertain people, they are arrested and put into prison. Later the performers are redeemed when they save a nobleman's son who was abducted by gypsies. The grateful aristocrat finally helps the actors out.
