Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Stage actor Thomas Wise achieved theatrical fame through his starring performance in The Gentleman From Mississippi, which he co-authored with Harrison Rhodes. Wise was called upon to re-create his famous stage role in the 1914 film version of Gentleman of Mississippi, produced by William H. Brady's World Film Manufacturing Corporation. Since the film now appears to be lost, it is difficult to assess Wise's effectiveness on screen, though contemporary reviewers were kind. The plot concerns the grown children of a proud Southern senator (Wise) who falls under the spell of a crooked Washington politician. The senator makes a last-minute appearance on the floor of Congress, saving his children from themselves and exposing the politician for the scoundrel that he is.
