Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This Vitagraph feature was based on the play by Charles Klein. Harry Morey stars as Wilbur Emerson, a financial whiz who is so driven that he neglects his sweetheart, Catherine Ames (Helen Ferguson). As a result, she marries attorney James Darwin (Eric Mayne) instead. Emerson, in the midst of a financial struggle, convinces his father (Charles Kent) and several other men to break a banking law regarding borrowing to save the situation. Darwin, who is jealous because Catherine still cares about Emerson, decides to investigate the situation. He forces a confession out of one of Wilbur's associates, George Cowper (George Majerone). Cowper hands over some incriminating papers, and Emerson goes to Darwin's home to retrieve them while he is out of town. Darwin shows up suddenly and accuses Catherine of being unfaithful. While he's wrong, she's more than happy to hand the papers over to her former sweetheart the next day. Emerson and his men all get together for a card game which will decide who takes the blame for the scheme. Emerson manipulates the cards so that he is the one sent to prison. Before he is sent away, Catherine promises to divorce Darwin and wait for him.
