Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
The lost faith of many Central Europeans provides the basis for this Bulgarian allegory. The story centers on the youthful slacker known only as the Official who though an adult, remains dominated by his overbearing father. Official secretly schemes to inherit the posh home of his elderly landlord. He has been buttering the old coot up for many years and hopes that he will die soon. Unfortunately, the landlord is not ready to go just yet. Later it seems as if Official decided to help the old man to heaven, because he suddenly drops dead. Now Official finds himself visited by a number of upsetting strangers, including a boozy investigator; the detective's boss and occasional lover; and Natalya, the investigator's ex-lover's daughter. It is the latter who helps Official find inspiration to live after the investigator kills himself.
