Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Gladys McConell and Hugh Allan starred in this action-melodrama, one of the final chapterplays produced by that specialist of the genre, Pathé. The team, who had previously appeared in The Tiger's Shadow, was all set to take over the mantle from audience favorites Allene Ray and Walter Miller, when derailed by the coming of sound, in general, and Pathé's demise, in particular. Allan plays the title role in The Fire Detective, trailing (through ten exciting chapters) a gang of arsonists headed by a crooked senator. The young actor, who retired from films later that year, actually professed a fondness for appearing in the fast-paced serial genre, despite the infamously low pay and tough working conditions.
