An assassination attempt renders Jokichi an outcast before setting him on a course towards a deadly confrontation with Chogoro in the second installment of the Mikogami Trilogy. Captured by the yakuza during a hasty attempt to permanently silence the nefarious Chogoro during a high-profile commemoration, Jokichi's life is spared by an angry Boss Juzaburo - who doesn't want to see the event disturbed any more than necessary. Now, despite his status as an outcast, Jokichi is hired by yakuza boss Umezo to watch over Boss Juzaburo's capricious daughter Oyuki. As the wheels of his fate are slowly set into motion, Jokichi will soon wander into a perilous trap that puts him precisely where Chogoro knows he is most vulnerable.
