Synopsis by Brian Whitener

The formidable McDonagh sisters formed one of the best early Australian filmmaking teams. This picture, where they take up the roles of producer, director, and lead actress, was their final silent film and contains some of the most beautifully conceptualized sequences in silent film history. Cherry Carson is a devoted daughter who is shielded from her father's evil ways. Her fiancé, however, is the son of the local prosecuting attorney, and when her father, James, is indicted, Cherry must choose between them. Cleverly manipulated by her father, Cherry goes on the lamb with him, not realizing the full extent of his decrepitude. Her fiancé chases after them and discovers their hide out, rescuing Cherry from father. They live happily ever after.
