Synopsis by Robert Silva

A Canadian social experiment in the 1960s plucked three Inuit boys from their homes in the Arctic and put them with foster families in the less frigid environs of Ottawa. The result was that they grew up with much of their culture. And while the men later became champions of Inuit rights -- arguably because of this experiment -- they also had to do so by giving up much of their heritage. This documentary from director Barry Greenwald examines the paradoxes and the regrets as its assembles the experiment's now-grown participants -- Eric Tagoona, Peter Ittinuar, and Zebedee Nungak -- as they recount their experience and the imprint it left on their lives.
