Synopsis by Brian Whitener
Known as one of Japan's better Yakuza flick directors, Yasuzo Masumura's The Evil Trio is a classic tale of a woman who discovers self reliance in the nick of time. Yoshiko is a beautiful but wayward young woman with a small time gangster boyfriend. Eventually she gets caught up in his dirty dealings and he turns on her. Using her past against her, the boyfriend convinces her to approach and seduce a popular singer. He then uses this dirt to blackmail the singer quite successfully until the singer gets hip to the operation and seeks the advice of a crooked attorney. This attorney in turn visits Yoshiko and manipulates her into agreeing to murder her boyfriend. In return, the lawyer promises to get her off. The murder goes down and the lawyer follows through on his promise. In court, however, Yoshiko realizes that he's been playing her this entire time. Fed up and tired of being a pawn between men, Yoshiko takes matter into her hands and extracts the only justice that's available to her.
