Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Released by Universal in 12 chapters, this blood-and-thunder serial starred one of the genre's top practitioners Marie Walcamp as Marie Carlton, a young woman in possession of a golden lotus leaf, which, combined with seven similar gems, may contain the secret of perpetual life. And who wouldn't like possessing such a treasure? King Carson (Otto Lederer), for example, is willing to sacrifice anything to get hold of Marie's leaf, trailing the perpetually distressed damsel through China, Japan, and the Philippines. Harlan Tucker co-starred as Miss Walcamp's knight in shining armor, and the concoction, said to have been filmed on actual locales in the Orient, was produced and directed by Henry MacRae, head of the studio's serial department. The filming must have been a mixed experience for Walcamp, who married her leading man but stayed away from films for seven years.
