This CBC documentary series consisted of seven 60-minute films, covering Canada's history from the 1890s to the John Diefenbaker government of the 1960s. Episode titles included "The Jewel in the Crown" (the years just following ratification), "Lord Byng, Canada Welcomes You" (the WWI years), "The Best of Times...The Worst of Times" (the Depression), "The King of Chaos" (the beginning of the Mackenzie King regime), "For King and Country" (WWII), "King of Canada" (the postwar years), and "Chairman of the Board" (Diefenbaker and company). Bruce Hutchinson narrated, while the directorial responsibilities were divided amongst three different filmmakers. First broadcast on Sunday evenings from November 4 to December 16, 1973, The Days Before Yesterday was rebroadcast by the CBC in the spring of 1976.
