Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Former CIA agent Robert Baer returns to explore the rise of Western and female suicide bombers in this eye-opening sequel to The Cult of the Suicide Bomber that compares the deadly trend to an explosive virus that slowly eats away at society. July 7, 2005: twenty nine year old Palestinian lawyer Hanadi Jaradat straps a bomb to her chest, strolls into an Israeli restaurant, calmly eats her last meal, then casually walks over to stand between two families and does the unthinkable. How could such a seemingly well-educated women be driven to perform such a hateful, wretched act of violence? At a time when the suicide bomber is increasingly difficult to recognize, twenty year CIA veteran Bear ventures across borders and cultures to examine the psychology and motivation of each individual bomber. Perhaps by understanding what truly drives these murderous zealots, we can take the first steps towards ensuring that our children grow up in a safer, more stable world.
