Synopsis by Dan Pavlides

The left-wing cinematic group known as "The Newsreel" presents this documentary of the Columbia University riots that started in Morningside Heights. Beginning with a speech from university president Grayson Kirk, the trouble begins when black students march on and hold strategic areas of the campus. Students who had little or no knowledge of the situation quickly learned of the siege and lent their support to the cause of peace and rebellion against the Establishment. While not an entirely politically objective documentary, the 29 people who worked on the project were able to convey the feeling of student frustration that lead to the riots. The incident was one of many that swept the nation, as students drew the line and protested the escalating Vietnam conflict.
