Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Penniless and alone in the Big City, heroine Jewel Carmen is about to end it all when her life is saved by cocky hoodlum Lee Shumway. Out of gratitude, the girl marries Shumway but soon learns to regret her decision when he is shipped off to prison. During her husband's absence, Carmen falls in love with wealthy Charles Gorman, a recovering alcoholic. When Shumway breaks out of jail, he confronts Gorman and tries to kill him. Desperately, Carmen grabs a gun and shoots Shumway to death, but when the cops arrive, Gorman takes the blame for the killing. Fortunately, fate smiles upon Gorman and he is acquitted of murder, freeing him to marry the heroine. Fox's Jewel Carmen vehicles may not have won any awards, but they were all sure-fire audience pleasers.
