Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
Blond Juanita Hansen, a runner-up to Pearl White and Ruth Roland in the serial queen sweepstakes, starred as Rosalind Joy, the constantly imperiled heiress to a fortune in gold in this Desert Island serial produced by Universal. Rosalind's Uncle Gilbert (Joseph W. Girard) considers the gold his property and the girl soon finds herself marooned and in danger on scary Pleasure Island. Happily, young playwright and insane asylum escapee (!) Jack James (Jack Mulhall) is along for the ride, seemingly always in place to rescue Rosalind from yet another peril concocted by dear Uncle Gilbert. In the 18th instalment of this serial, Uncle finally bites the dust, leaving Rosalind with her gold and her young playwright. Based on a story by Frank R. Adams, this serial was remade by Universal as Haunted Island in 1928.
