Although Stan Laurel was known as the creative mind behind the films he made with Oliver Hardy, during the 1910s Hardy actually had his own company within the Vim studios and directed a handful of comedies. This one-reeler, which is a genteel reminder of old-time morals, was one of them. Hardy, then known both personally and professionally as Babe, is also the film's star, and his co-star is the plus-size character actress Kate Price. They play sweethearts who live in the town of Cordeliaville, a rather stiff little hamlet that has passed laws prohibiting both romancing and babies. When a new mother comes to town and sees the sign, instead of turning around and leaving, she abandons her infant, who winds up on Kate's doorstep. Kate and Babe try to hide the baby -- they're already in trouble with the Women's League because of their displays of affection. The baby gets passed around from person to person in a number of odd situations until it winds up back with its mother.
