Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Having scored a success with the film version of the stage hit The Middleman, British music-hall luminary Albert Chevalier returned to the screen in the three-reel Hepworth production The Bottle. Chevalier plays a blue-collar family man, a loving husband and father and able provider. Unfortunately, our hero has a weakness for alcohol, and this proves to be his undoing. The scene in which Chevalier thrashes about madly in the final stage of Delirium Tremens must have been quite startling to those familiar only with his comedy characterizations. Unlike many British films of this period, which tended to be dull and pedestrian. The Bottle was superbly staged, photographed and acted.
