Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Documentary filmmaker Nao Nakazawa explores the birth of a unique new musical style called "California Shamisen" by following musician Kevin Masaya Kmetz as he travels to Japan to study Tsugaru Shamisen and then back to California where he collaborated with a talented crew of local musicians. Armed with a sharp sense of humor and a newfound sense of focus, Kmetz then prepares to venture back to Japan and win the National Tsugaru Shamisen Competition.
