Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

Not to be confused with another 1985 movie of the same title by director Sam Raimi, this comic look at scriptwriter's block comes from the creative, unblocked mind of John Paizs, a director and humorist from Winnipeg. The unlikely hero, Steven Penny, wants to do a smashing crime-thriller movie but is torn and twisted into knots because he can write great endings and beginnings but it is the middle that refuses to materialize. As he jettisons his failures in the scrap heap, they are picked up and read by his little mite of a next-door neighbor. She has some naive comments of her own to try to help him out, sounding very much like a stereotyped amateur scriptwriter herself. After various attempts to remedy his problems, Penny decides to check out a script-writing doctor in Kansas and heads south of the border -- where help comes from an unexpected direction, but not without a certain hindrance as well.
