Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
A self-righteous, racist Alsatian village mayor kills a Jew in this gripping German remake of a 1926 film. A long time later the burden of keeping the awful secret is too much, so he breaks down and admits his guilt. This film was banned in 1933 by Propaganda Minister Josef Goebbels after the Nazis rose to power.
