This documentary about the April 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster makes a plea for the U.S.S.R. and the U.S. to put aside their differences in the wake of the incident. Angry residents call for the death penalty for the top brass at the nuclear plant. Farmers express concern that the environment and food chain are damaged beyond repair. The city of 45,000 became a ghost town after the residents were forced to evacuate. English narration is provided with this feature from the Soviet Union.
