Hong Kong filmmaker Johnny To directed this exciting remake of Chang Cheh's 1975 martial-arts classic Disciples of Shaolin (aka The Invincible One). Aaron Kwok stars as Kuan Feng-yu, a superior fighter who has been unlucky in life. Kuan looks up his father's friend Tuan Ching-yun (Ti Lung) after the old man dies, finding that he is a wanted fugitive working as a personal bodyguard to the beautiful female owner of the Four Seasons textile company (Maggie Cheung). That's when Kuan gets involved in the fight against rival businessman Ke Hu-po (Kenneth Tsang), who makes a grab for market control by setting fire to the plant's entire inventory. Kuan is a good fighter, but quite gullible, so when Hu-po -- impressed by the young man's talents -- talks him into joining his fighters in a power play to win control of the region, the foolish Kuan agrees, putting his old friends at the Four Seasons in mortal danger. Eventually, of course, the naive young fighter will come around, but his journey to awareness is spiced up with a number of exciting fight scenes choreographed by veteran action director Lau Kar-leung and a solid cast including Jacqueline Wu, Paul Chun, and Benny Lai.
