Synopsis by Tracie Cooper
Instructed by fitness expert and former print journalist Burr Leonard, The Bar Method Body: Designer Sculpting borrows largely from the popular Lotte Berk Method while adding its own twist; each muscle group is challenged by a rapid succession of target specific exercises designed to build muscle while burning fast. The subtle moves claim to reshape and sculpt problem areas without building bulk, and encourage a philosophy based on health benefits rather than weight loss exclusively. This 45-minute workout zeroes in on the leg, seat, waist, and abdominal muscles. Leonard began her fitness studies at the Lotte Berk's New York City studio in 1981, became a certified instructor herself, and eventually opened her own studio in 1991.
