With a hackneyed plotline almost lifted intact from "It's A Wonderful Life," this is still a worthwhile movie due to the appeal and acting ability of the cast. What is lacking in originality is made up by Zero Mostel and Harry Belafonte. Mostel portrays a despondent old Jewish man who has gone through personal and business crises and has lost his faith - both in God and himself. Belafonte plays an angel who has to earn his wings by bringing Mostel back to the fold by proving that his life still has meaning.
