Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Peter Chan directs this supernatural weepie about death and fate. The film opens with Mrs. Sheung (Anita Yuen) desperately pleading with the gods to heal her son who is dying of a ferocious fever. When she tells the heavens that she would be more than happy to shave ten years off of her life to save her son. To her great surprise, death (Roy Chiao) dressed in a dapper white suit grants her wish. Fast forward ahead some years when Mrs. Sheung is 68 years old and her now grown and married son Fan (Alan Tam) is about to emigrate to America with his wife. Though Mrs. Sheung steadfastly refuses to be left behind, her protest get drown out when Fan's spoiled, loonball daughter visits with her brood of wailing children. Soon Mrs. Sheung is taking a long bus ride with Death by her side. She pleads to have her ten years back resulting in some unexpected consequences.
