Inspired by the phenomenally successful American TV game show The $64,000 Question, The 60,000 Question was emceed by veteran film, stage, and television comic actor Jerry Desmonde. The British version differed from the American original in two important respects. For one, the prizes were presented in increments of six pences rather than dollars or pounds. For another, the British series wasn't rigged.... The 60,000 Question was beamed out by ATV from 1956 to 1958.
