In this documentary, part of the 20th Century with Mike Wallace series from CBS News and the History Channel, series host and CBS News correspondent Mike Wallace, delves deep into the facts and fiction of the Korean War, which raged from 1950 to 1953 and was used as a backdrop for the motion picture and subsequent television series M*A*S*H. This episode goes behind-the-scenes of the war, from the beginning of the conflict when North Korean troops crossed the 38th Parallel into South Korea, to the final days of this bloody war. 20th Century with Mike Wallace features talks with military historians who were either part of the war or have researched the turmoil of the Korean conflict. There are also biographical sketches of some of the military personnel from the war, especially General Douglas MacArthur, along with descriptions of some of the major battles, such as Heartbreak Ridge and Inchon.
