Synopsis by Rob Ferrier
Piri Reis was a Turkish admiral who created a map of the world that he said was based on the original maps of Christopher Columbus. As such, Reis' map was the only known direct reference to the maps of the famed Italian explorer and an invaluable resource for those investigating the history of his legendary exploits. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of controversy over the validity of Reis' claims. This film assumes the validity of the map and takes viewers on a journey approximating that of Columbus. Some discussion is given regarding the relations between the Ottoman Empire and Western Europe and the evidence that supports the validity of the map.
