Synopsis

This profile of Tennessee Williams combines interviews with the playwright and brief scenes from his plays. Among them: Burl Ives in "The Last of My Solid Gold Watches," Michael York and Maureen Stapleton in "The Glass Menagerie," Jessica Tandy in "Streetcar Named Desire," John Colicos and Colleen Dewhurst in "Night of the Iguana" and William Hutt in "Small Craft Warnings." Williams discusses his childhood, his love for the South, his most memorable characters and his admiration for Chekhov. Filmed in New Orleans and at Williams' home in Key West, Fla. The program was produced and directed by Harry Rasky.
