Synopsis by Alice Day
While Columbus secured financial support for his voyage to find the riches of the East, he still faced the challenges of a fearful crew and primitive navigation instruments. In Ten Who Dared: Christopher Columbus, it can be seen that sailing uncharted seas took tremendous courage, and not knowing what lay beyond the horizon exacted a toll on captain and crewmen alike. When Columbus reached land, he thought he had reached the Indies when in reality he had found the Bahamas. His discovery of the Western Hemisphere was to change the course of history, and open the doors of the New World for Europeans.
