Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Mehboob Khan follows up on his 1943 opus Najma with this light-hearted romantic comedy about Judge Gandaprasad (Chandramohan) and entertainment commissar Badriprasad (Charlie) who lose their children in the crowd of the massive Hindu festival of Kumbh Mela. Each man winds up with the other's child. Gandaprasad raises Babu (Motilal) as a spoiled playboy while Badriprasad brings up Salma (Nargis) as a dancer for his theater. Inevitably, Babu and Salma meet and fall in love. Unfortunately, the class differences between them make it impossible to marry until their true parentages are revealed.
