Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Long regarded as one of the most legendary tank battles in history, the WWII event Operation Zitadelle witnessed the Nazis undertaking their last major offensive operations against the Kursk salient. For no less than 14 days in July 1943, two tank battalions - that of the Soviets and that of the Germans - went head to head in a grueling death match. The Soviets won, of course, which marked the first major turning point of the war and prompted a lengthy Russian march into the heart of Berlin. Those events receive a detailed historical overview in this release, which combines testimony from historians, archival film and CG-illustrations in relaying the events.
