Synopsis by Rebecca Flint Marx
The intricate and unsparing hell of trying to sell a screenplay is given an incisive and unsparing look in Talk Fast, the documentary debut of co-directors Chris Emmanouilides and Chris Deaux. The subject of the documentary is Ken Rotcop, a man who has made a career out of coming to the aid of hundreds of would-be and already-been screenwriters, taking on scripts good, bad, and just plain ugly. Talk Fast follows him as he helps his latest group of aspiring screenwriters, who include a onetime stockbroker, a new mother, a wayward actress, a puppeteer, and Candace Hilligoss, a former B-movie queen. Rotcop helps his charges prepare for Pitchmart, a script-selling convention where writers have two minutes to pitch their work to studio executives and production companies. Talk Fast was screened at the 2002 Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema.
