Synopsis by Hal Erickson
On this half-hour cable series, a group of top interior decorators undertook the task to "Refocus, Reorganize and Redesign" family homes where previous "makeover" efforts had met with disaster. In each episode, the professionals descended upon a room which had started with a theme in mind -- "Hawaiian," "Moroccan," "Safari Den," etc. -- but which had become a jumbled mess somewhere along the way. Keeping within a budget of 2,000 dollars, designers Kelli Ellis, Frank Fontana, and Valerie Bickford performed the requisite makeover miracles, the result being "theme" rooms that not only lived up to the expectations of the homeowners, but actually surpassed them. Kelli Kirkland Powers was host of Takeover My Makeover, which made its HGTV network bow on May 6, 2006.
