Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
The often humorous ska band Madness broke up in 1986, a few years after this docudrama was filmed on their sudden rise to fame in Britain at the end of the 1970s. "Ska" is roughly a combination of reggae and rock & roll, and became a favorite of English youth. The story of Madness begins in 1976 in Camden Town with two friends getting together to play their own versions of rock, and it ends -- after some fluctuation and growth in band members and comic tugs at the bootstraps -- with a highly successful band. Appearing in the rags-to-riches story are the band members themselves, including Suggs McPherson, Woody Woodgate, Mike Barson, and others.
