Synopsis by Sandra Brennan

This romantic comedy-drama tells the true story (based on director Janos Sxombolyai's experience) of a young man who must marry a dying woman's niece, who wants to immigrate to Hungary, before he can legally inherit the old woman's apartment. The film begins in Hungary in 1989 just as the communist era draws to a close. Romania, its neighbor is still a dictatorship. The ailing woman's niece desperately wants to leave Romania, but she cannot, unless she can marry a Hungarian. The trouble is the young man is already engaged to a woman he really loves. Because good housing is hard to find, the man agrees to the woman's terms. He and his fiance travel to Romania to wed the niece. They have a little trouble when a Romanian security policeman is attracted to both women. Upon returning to Hungary the trio lives together.
