Synopsis by Mark Deming
In Oakland, CA, they call it "the Sideshow" -- groups of young people getting together to show off the stunts they can perform with their cars. Running the gamut from the latest modified imports to classic restored muscle cars, the Sideshow riders burn rubber doing doughnuts, figure eights, and long skids, all accompanied by a soundtrack of boomin' hip-hop beats. Sydewayz is a documentary that offers a close look at the Oakland Sideshow phenomenon, including footage of illegal street action and run-ins with Oakland police force. Sydewayz features music by Destro, Dividenz, Piankhi, and Black & Brown Entertainment.
