Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
Mike Dowling is both an accomplished performer and a talented guitar instructor with years of teaching experience. He has recorded with such talented artists as Joe Venuti, Jethro Burns, and Vassar Clements. He runs a live-in guitar school from his home in Wyoming. During this program, Dowling shows viewers how to handle chord substitutions, rhythm vamps, tenth chords, jump-style syncopations, diminished chords, and funky ninth chord blues. The elusive aspects of swing are discussed as he teaches students how to play such tunes as "Sheik of Araby" and "Beaumont Rag."
